Elgin
Elgin is a Bastrop County town on US 290 east of Austin that has become one of the region's most active new-home markets, largely because it is where a new four-bedroom home still fits a first-time budget. Builders here compete on price cuts and closing cost credits as much as on rate buy-downs, so the deals change often.
